Rocky Mountain National Park covers 415 square miles of spectacular mountain wilderness in Colorado. The park has over 350 miles of hiking trails and 150 lakes, including the famous Bear Lake with its stunning turquoise waters surrounded by towering peaks. The park is home to over 60 species of mammals and 280 bird species. Trail Ridge Road, which runs through the park, is one of the highest paved roads in North America, reaching 12,183 feet above sea level! In winter, the mountains are covered in deep snow perfect for skiing and snowshoeing, while summer brings wildflower meadows and perfect weather for hiking. The park's tallest peak, Longs Peak, stands 14,259 feet tall and can be seen from over 100 miles away on clear days.
