Peach State Agriculture

Back to Georgia
Georgia is nicknamed the Peach State for its juicy, sweet peaches that ripen under plenty of sunshine. Orchards bloom with pink flowers in spring and turn golden with fruit in summer. Farmers care for the trees all year so each peach is plump and tasty. Roadside stands pop up with baskets that smell like sunshine and dessert. Georgia grows lots of other crops too—peanuts are a superstar here! But peaches keep the state's nickname as delicious as a summer picnic.
