Central Park
Back to New York
Central Park was created in the 1850s and was the first landscaped public park in America. The park is so big that it would take about 2 hours to walk all the way around it! Central Park has over 58 miles of walking paths, 36 bridges, and 21 playgrounds. The park is home to over 200 species of birds, and you can see ducks, swans, and even hawks flying overhead. In winter, people ice skate on the park's frozen ponds, and in summer, families have picnics on the Great Lawn. The park also has a famous carousel, a castle (Belvedere Castle), and the Central Park Zoo where you can see penguins, sea lions, and snow leopards. Over 42 million people visit Central Park every year, making it one of the most visited parks in the world!
